【游戏简介】
由《暗黑破坏神（Diablo）》、《魔兽争霸（WarCraft）》开发成员另组的新工作室 Flagship Studios 所推出。
游戏的地点设定在英国的伦敦，讲述的是人类与恶魔对抗的故事。由于在之前的大战中人类战败，幸存者们于是转入地下世界藏身，5年后为夺回被恶魔占据的地上世界而再次战斗，这里充满了大量的坟墓、下水道、地铁站等极具伦敦特色的建筑。
《暗黑之门》是一款将单机版游戏和网络游戏之优点集于一身的新一代游戏作品。
有趣的是，该游戏是整合了单机版游戏和网络游戏之多种优点。支持单独游戏模式的《暗黑之门》，基本上支持类似网络游戏进行方式的多人在线游戏模式。
《暗黑之门》讲述了从现在起25年之后，即人类在与恶魔的战争中失败之5年后，隐藏在地下世界(Underground)的人类为重返地上世界而奋斗的故事，连接游戏的玩家都会聚集在这个地下世界，然后志同道合的人之间组成团队，到以特殊地宫的概念生成的地上世界展开战斗。
这个地上世界就如《暗黑破坏神》，每当玩家连接游戏时随机生成，使得玩家随时能够体验到新鲜的感觉。
主导游戏开发的David Brevik说明到：虽然该游戏以第一人称为基础，但我们会让它成为一款即使是对FPS游戏毫无经验的玩家也可以轻松的掌握并享受其中乐 趣的游戏。
实际玩过《暗黑之门》的话，就觉得游戏并不像FPS游戏那样要求正确的瞄准或敏捷的反应，倒是更接近使用多种技能和武器的动作RPG游戏《暗黑破坏神》。使用符合未来世界感觉的多种形态的武器时，会让你感受《半条命》的网络版本般的乐趣；或使用刀剑类武器时就转换为第三人称视点，会让你感受《魔兽世界》般的美妙的乐趣，变化多多，无比的精彩。
所以，David Brevik将《暗黑之门》定义为MMOFPS 动作RPG游戏。就如《暗黑破坏神》成为动作RPG游戏之祖先一样，《暗黑之门》将会创造新的游戏类型。
此外，《暗黑之门》还包含了多种惊人的创意。
